Heely's

Heely's photo from their site.

What are Heely's?  Well in short they are a type of roller shoe that either have one or two wheels in each shoe.  That the wearer could either walk or skate with the shoe.  To skate you just lift up your toes and use the wheels in the heels.  We got to test out a set of Heely's here at The Klauer Review.  My brother actually did the skating and wearing of the shoes.   Here is a video of him learning how to just glide down hill on them.

Here is an informational video from Heely's site
Our Thoughts~  They take a bit getting used to whether you want to skate or just walk with the wheels in so that you could skate anytime you wanted.  For the Skating you get a little momentum and lean back and roll.  With lots of practice you could do fun tricks.  My brother really likes these shoes just as shoes because they are comfortable and feel better than tennis shoes because there are more support in the souls.  He put the key to change the shoes from regular shoes to skates on his key chain so he won't lose it.. I think this is a great idea especially if you get them for your younger kids to keep the key in a safe place.
The wheels are easy to put in you just take the key and slip the guard that is in there normally out and snap the wheels into place.   For removal you stick the key in the grove of the wheel and pop them back out and put the shoe guard back in so you don't get the wheel well a dirty and mucked up.

I think these are a great gift for kids and young adults.  The shoes start at size kids 12.  My eldest son is 5.5 and he is in a size 12 but since I thought he was a little too little for these my brother helped me out with the testing.  I think I would wait till he is a little bigger to get these and I would definitely put a helmet and pads on because they do take a bit of getting used to.  But all around definitely a fun shoe.

Safety Safety Safety.
