Eco Lunchbox- Furoshiki Wrap Giveaway~ends 10/12 @11:59pm(Central Time)
Eco Lunchbox offered up a Furoshiki Wrap to review and giveaway. For the first time since starting the blog I am having a guest reviewer. I love to get other opinions of other mom's and thought it would be fun to host a guest review every so often. So here we go..

The fabric is very beautiful. I love that there is a different design on each side, so depending on my mood I can turn it around. And the wrap is thick and well made. The furoshiki is definitely big enough to hold everything you would need for lunch or for taking snacks to the park. The one I received came with a stainless steal container, which I love. It is a good size and the top stays on nice and tight. The wrap is 24”x24” so when you undo the knots you have a nice size, pretty place mat. When you are finished with your lunch or snack (if you don’t have anything to else to take back with you) you can easily fold it up and tuck it in your pocket or purse.
Below is an email info about Eco Lunchbox's campaign to raise funds to make smart phone games to help teach children green habits. After all what we teach our children today and show by example will drastically help our future. This can be said about everything. Money Management, Politics, Enviromental Conservation and Replenishing. Just think about what we could instill in our children to make the future better. There is also a place for donations if you so choose to help support their program.

Strategy for SF Bay Area Green Business
August 2011
LAFAYETTE, Calif. - In an effort to help reduce lunchtime waste, ECOlunchboxes kicked off a campaign today to raise funds to make a smart phone game teaching kids how to green their habits.
"Lunchtime waste is a mounting problem," said Sandra Ann Harris, a Lafayette, Calif. mother of two who founded ECOlunchboxes specializing in no-waste and no-plastic lunchware in 2008. "But learning to reduce waste and recycle can be a fun challenge. If kids can play our game and win - they'll know enough to green their habits at lunchtime in real life, too."
The San Francisco Bay Area green business has developed a concept for a fun eco game for kids to sort flying lunch trash into recycling, compost and trash bins. Working against the clock with colorful lunchtime waste zipping across the screen, children will be entertained by the playful game and educated at the same time.
A typical American family creates about 4,320 pieces of trash and spends about $400 extra on disposable lunchware each year, according to the Lunchbox Waste Study by ECOlunchboxes.
"Kids and adults love to play, and most of us also love to learn, connecting them produces the optimal neurological and emotional pleasure needed to reinforce the right behaviors," explained gamification expert Gabe Zichermann.
ECOlunchboxes is reaching out for support from the eco community to help fund development of the app game, which it's calling Green Trash Ninja.
Zichermann, who is chair of the Gamification Summit slated for New York City in September, said he thought the game was a "cool concept" and pointed out that many people learn their "greatest lessons in life on the playground, on a soccer field, in games of cops and robbers or in a tree fort. The extension of this concept to digital games and gamification should come as no surprise."
"The realities of launching a start-up green business mean we just don't have extra in the budget for the creative and programming required," Harris said. "I'm really hoping that others will see the value of developing this eco app and help us make the game available to all for free."
Development of the game will cost $8,700, so ECOlunchboxes has launched a fund-raising campaign on Indiegogo.com, a website platform specializing in crowd funding. Donors are rewarded with prizes and recognition.
ECOlunchboxes is asking people, organizations and schools who support no-waste lunches to donate as well as help spread the word about its fundraising campaign through digital media channels, such as email newsletters, Facebook and Twitter.
"We welcome any kind of help we can get - whether it's $5 or $500 or $5,000," Harris said. "I really think developing this game will help get the word out about the importance of greening our habits at lunchtime."
More information about donating to the Green Trash Ninja app project can be found at: http://www.indiegogo.com/Green-Trash-Ninja-Crowd-Fundraising-for-Eco-Game-App

My name is Anita and I was asked by Katrina to be a guest reviewer for The Klauer Review. I was thrilled and honored. I am a busy stay-at-home mom to three girls; ages 6, 3 and 2 years old. She asked me to try out and review the Furoshiki ECOlunchwrap. Here is what is says on the back of the wrapping.
Chic and versatile, furoshiki is the original eco lunchbag from Japan.
If you can tie just two knots, you can transform our Furoshiki ECOlunchwrap into a stylish lunchbag! The ancient Japanese tradition of knotting, folding and twisting furoshiki, dating back to the 17th century, is newly chic as the dangers of plastic to our health and the environment have become widely known.
Eco-consumers are turning back the clock in search of non-toxic and waste-free solutions for daily living. Double-sided and machine washable, our cotton furoshiki (pronounced f-ROHSH-kee) wrap is sewn from colorful fair trade textiles hand printed by artisans using wooden blocks and wax batik techniques perfected over generations.
So whether you are packing food from home, picking up take-out or just need a versitilble bag, our wraps make it easy to say goodbye to plastic bags, vinyl totes and other leachy food containers. Plastic-free, BPA-free and waste-free, our furoshiki wraps are yummy and yuck-free for people of all ages plus our planet.
My thoughts:

Bon Ami (EcoMom) Giveaway ends 10/5
Ecomom is hosting a Bon Ami Review with us.. It is one of their tested and approved product lines.
Info from the flier.
All Bon Ami products are free of phosphates and harmful chlorine and their ingredients are simple and natural. Everything Ecomom offers has been evaluated against a set of proprietary criteria for the safest and healthiest products for you and your family. Ecomom looks to the best research available, enlisting the help of experts at organizations such as Healthy Child Healthy World, and Environmental Working Group, as well as their research partners - a discriminating team of doctors, scientists, moms, dads, babies and kids.
Our Thoughts~~
We were sent a line of their Bon Ami Products which included Powder Cleanser, Liquid Cleanser, All Purpose Cleanser and Dish Soap. I took these products to the bathroom and kitchen for testing. I noticed that they all have ingredients you can say like lime stone, baking soda, and citric acid. I used the Powder Cleanser in the toilet bowl and it just ripped through the toilet grim. I used the Liquid Cleanser for the counters, outside of the toilet and the tub it did an amazing job on the soap scum and dirty/oily ring left from cleaning your body in the shower and tub.. With 4 boys our tub sees a LOT of dirt. I did notice for the tough stuck stuff you did need to throw a little extra elbow grease behind the product because it uses natural materials to clean and not chemicals that eat away at EVERYTHING and leave a nasty chemical residue.
In the kitchen we used the dish soap and the all purpose spray. I use the spray on my table and counters and feel confident that it is safe to be used near food preparation and near my kids while I am happy it also gets everything up.. Again you need to add that extra bit of elbow grease for the tough spots but that is a small price to pay when it comes to safer products.
Ecomom is giving away a $35 GC. This is enough money for you to get the whole line of Bon Ami products and shipping free if you want or you can use it for their other amazing products.
Ecomom also has a program called Ecopass it is an annual membership that costs $99 and you get free shipping and a 15% discount on everything whether you are ordering one item or 100. This is a great investment for you to purchase your body cleansing supplies, baby food, toddler snacks, diapers everything. Your membership would pay for itself in just a couple orders.
I am testing out a new way to sign up for the Giveaways. I hope this makes it a lot easier I am pretty excited with how it looks so far.

Saffron Dreams Book Review

Saffron Dreams By Shaila Abdullah
Description from the Back of the book...
You don't know you're a misfit until you are marked as an outcast.
From the darkest hour of American history emerges a mesmerizing tale of tender love, a life interrupted, and faith recovered. Arissa Illahi, a Muslim artist and writer, discovers in a single moment that no matter how carefully you map your life, it is life itself that chooses your destiny. After her husband's death in the collapse of the World Trade Center, the discovery of his manuscript marks Arissa's reconnection to life. Her unborn son and the unfinished novel fuse in her mind into one life-defining project that becomes, at once, the struggle for her emotional survival and the redemption of her race. Saffron Dreams is a novel about our ever evolving identities and the events and places that shape them. It reminds us that in the midst of tragedy, our dreams can become a lasting legacy.
Our Thoughts~~~
First I would like to start off with that I started reading this book on the 10th Anniversary of the Collapse of the World Trade Center. A day that is heavy in every American's heart. I don't know a single person that can not tell you what they were doing on this tragic day. With an already heavy heart of a mourning heart for the nation and for the families of the lost people I picked up Shaila Abdullah's Saffron Dreams. Honestly this book is mind blowing, eye opening and heart strings tearing. I say this because this book follows a Muslim woman named Arissa Illahi through her past and present. Shaila Abdullah takes you on a journey through Arissa's present while weaving her memories into the story.
The telling of this story is so emotional and intense I felt as if I were Arissa. The writing is so intense you feel the emotion from this woman as she tries to coup with the loss of her husband, the knowledge of her child's disabilities, while discovering who she is now going to become as this widowed woman. This book doesn't just touch on her grieving but it shows you the collective hatrid America had for Muslims because of these attacks though their religion is not for terrorism. When a few of any race or religion act out in the name of a cause a whole society is persecuted for it.
This book is honestly so powerful I suggest you read it for yourself. In all fairness it was so intense and emotion filled at times that I had to put it down and walk away to ponder all the things going on. No I did not lose anyone that day. I did lose the "Rose Colored" glasses of our world. I was 20 years old and in college and I knew things would be dramatically different in America and to be Arissa and pregnant with a child with disabilities and to be hated by random people just because of my religion, while grieving for the love of my life. WOW.. Powerful Story of her new self discovery and how to continue on. I really don't want to give away too much since it is an amazing read and suggest this book for your next book club book or just personal read. You will not be sorry you picked it up.

Tanner's Tasty Paste~ends 9/28

Tanner's Tasty Paste line comes in 3 children friendly flavors. Seriously what child doesn't like the sound of Banilla Bling ( a vanilla ice cream flavored),
Cha Cha Chocolate (a chocolate ice cream flavored)
and even a fluoride free version for younger children that still haven't mastered the spitting out of toothpaste called Baby Bling (which has a mild vanilla ice cream flavor)
.These Toothpastes are the vision of Dr. Janelle Holden. Here is her story from their site.
Tanner's Tasty Paste
Take a Ride on the Flavor Wave!
The Story Behind Tanner's Tasty Paste:
Dr. Janelle Holden's love of dentistry began when she was just a little girl, dreaming of becoming a dentist one day.
Her career in dentistry started as a Dental Hygienist, working in a successful pediatric dental practice in Beverly Hills, California. It is here where she heard her calling; provide the best dental care for the most important patients, children.
Dr. Holden returned to the University Of Southern California School Of Dentistry where she earned her dental degree. She then completed her post doctoral residency in Pediatric Dentistry at USC, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and Miller's Children's Hospital of Long Beach at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Holden now has a thriving practice in Manhattan Beach, California, devoted exclusively to the treatment of children, from infants to teens. She is dedicated to providing quality care for all children including apprehensive children and those with special needs.
Dr. Holden has found that when a child has an enjoyable, rewarding experience at their first dental visit, their entire dental life is positively affected. With that in mind, her goal is to provide a caring, fun environment which reflects her core philosophy to promote cavity prevention and help children to enjoy cavity free lives.
By working with children everyday, Dr. Holden has learned which flavors children respond to best when using toothpastes and prophy pastes. This understanding of children's favorite flavors has lead to the development of the Tanner's Tasty Paste line of toothpastes for children. If children enjoy the flavors of their toothpastes, it is likely they'll brush better and more often. And, if they brush better and more often, they'll have fewer cavities!
We hope that you and your family enjoy all of the Tanner's Tasty Paste toothpastes and products.
Our Thoughts~~~~
I love that all flavors are free of sodium lauryl sulfate, saccharin or artificial colors or flavors. Sodium lauryl sulfate is believed to cause mouth sores and lesions in children. So children having these problems would benefit from a toothpaste without the Sodium lauryl sulfate. Our children love the flavors and love to brush their teeth with this toothpaste and I feel great that I know there are no artificial colors and flavors and are naturally sweetened with Xylitol instead of saccharin. I really enjoy that she has both toothpaste versions, ones that have fluoride for that extra cavity protection in toddlers who have mastered not swallowing the toothpaste but also has a fluoride free for our 2 younger boys. It is never too early to start brushing their gums. I found that starting early with just a wet toothbrush helps remove the milk residue but also helps prep them for mom or dad brushing their teeth when the sharp little guys pop through. So these are mom and child tested and approved in our home. We will definitely not be going back to regular store bought toothpaste for our kids.
