Violight~ ends 2/19

First off I would like to say this is BRILLIANT. I mean seriously think about it. We have sanitizing wipes, we have Antibacterial soap, we put on clean clothes daily. But the one thing we use twice daily could be the dirtiest thing in the house no matter where you store it.

Violight

The Original Violight Toothbrush Sanitizer
Designed by Philippe Starck

By using Germicidal Ultraviolet Light, which physically destroys the DNA of microorganisms, our award-winning Violight Countertop Toothbrush Sanitizer and Storage System will sanitize up to four toothbrushes at one time.
Violight prevents cross contamination of bacteria from one toothbrush to another, and even accommodates electric toothbrush heads. Its translucent cap lets you know it's working, and it includes a removable drip cup for easy cleaning.
With a one-touch start button, auto shut-off, and safety cap that de-activates the light if it's unlocked or removed, this Sanitizer is a must-have for those who are health-conscious.

Family Friendly
With enough room to hold four toothbrushes of all sizes - including kids' and electric heads Violight is versatile enough to meet all your family needs.

Easy to Use, Safe and Effective
Independent tests prove that Violight gets rid of up to 99.9% of bacteria living on your toothbrush. VIOlight uses germicidal UV light bulb power, for effective cleaning. You simply brush, rinse, and place your toothbrush in the cup-sized holder and, with the push of a button, the sanitizer starts to kill those unwanted germs.

Maintenance Free and Affordable
The Violight germicidal UV bulb is rated to last over 2000 hours, and only needs replacing every one or two years, depending on use. It comes with a removable drip tray for easy cleaning.

Why use this?

Watch this mythbusters segment on Fecal microbes and toothbrush experiment.

Yes in their conclusion there is fecal matter everywhere even on their control tooth brushes. Meaning you can't escape it. Granted there are small traces but seriously why brush with it if you don't have to.

And to just steer you away from the fecal microbes if you looked at the slides there are other microbes. Which can include common cold or flu bacteria. The Violight helps keep your tooth brushes cleaner and in turn your family healthier.

How the Violight works (a lot shorter video I promise)

Our Thoughts~

The unit we received for the review was The Original Violight Toothbrush sanitizer.

It has 4 openings for 4 toothbrushes. How I use it. Personally I kick this baby on twice a day. 10 min before each brushing. I brush the kids teeth in the morning after breakfast so I run in and turn it on when I offer breakfast and at night before bed, so again I run in before we start our bedtime routine. Why before not after? Well I thought if I did it before it is freshly cleaned as opposed to being cleaned then exposed all day to the fecal microbes. Personally I love the thing. It was fun to play with out of the box and it gives peace of mind that you are taking one extra step to keep your family healthy. The idea is not so far fetched. You may be questioning these UV bacteria killing lights but if you were sick with a contagious bug that the CDC came in and got you they would keep you in a room with similar lights to help kill air born bacteria. Why would I know this info actually from a tv show of NCIS but did look into any reference of it before posting. See below.

"To reduce the potential for TB transmission in healthcare facilities, CDC guidelines recommend that a number of controls be used. Currently, many facilities use ultraviolet germicidal irradiation, referred to as UVGI, as an auxiliary control measure when their ventilation systems in hospital rooms are unable to provide air exchange rates recommended by CDC." taken from this update.

  4. Went to website. I think it's actually an awesome idea. I particularly like the kiddie themed ones - think they appeal to the young-ins. I actually became worried about the poopy-air problem after they talked about it on Bones the TV show, lol.
