Well aside from the Catchy theme song I still can't get out of my head.  I love how these videos are teaching my kids about the books of the Bible and other topics that flow through out the Bible. The Fun Characters and the quick tempo of the dvds keep my children's short attention spans engaged through out the whole video.

2nd Vol. "Let My People Go"

In the first part of this volume the Characters go over how the books in the Bible were selected and what Canon means.  They then also touch on Sin and our Relationships with God.  How Sin disrupts our relationship with God.

In the second Part of this volume we learn God's Rescue Plan for us from Sin.  From the 3 factors of sin, the stain of sin the power of sin and the presence of sin around us.  This leads our Characters to the Second book of the Bible Exodus.





My Kids love What's In The Bible?  And I love it too.  It helps reach them and teaches them in a way they can understand this very complex book.  If you find yourself tripping over how to teach your children the Bible and need some help I would say definitely give these videos a try.  They are fun and fast pace.  Full of vibrant characters that hooks and keeps their attention through out the whole video.  And you will hear the catchy songs for DAY if not WEEKS after you play them.

In this episode Sid is excited to watch Philbert his Grandma's puppy.  Sid is hoping to show his parents that he is responsible enough for his own puppy.  Off to school Sid investigates how you take care of a pet and realizes that pets take a lot of work and are a big responsibility.

Tuesday~ Nov 13th "Sleep? Who needs It?"

Like all kids Sid wants to stay up all night.  After his mother convinces him to go to sleep he decides to find out why his body needs sleep at school.  Sid and his friends investigate why sleep is important and how to help calm their bodies to prepare for sleep.

Wednesday~ Nov 14th "See The Science Kid"

After discovering a seed in his apple, Sid Investigates seeds with his friends at school.  At school they learn all about life cycles of not only plants but animals.  They are excited to plant Sid's Seed and watch it grow.

Thursday~ Nov 15th "The Reason Sid's Sneezin" 

This episode teaches Sid about Allergies.  At School Grandma helps the kids learn about allergies and how the body reacts to allergens.  During class the kids learn that Gerald is Allergic to Strawberries.  So the kids decide to make their classroom a Strawberry-Free-Zone.


Our Thoughts~  We love Sid at our house.  I love to watch my kids pile up with their own questions during the episodes.  Most of the time the episodes to an amazing job answering all of my children's questions but ever blue moon I get the pleasure of talking them through a question they still have.  It is fun to listen to their scientific minds pick apart something and absorb new meanings. Sid really challenges the world and asks the best question and my kids learn as he learns the answers.  So tune into your PBS station this coming week starting Monday for these great new Episodes.

Our Thoughts~  I was very intrigued with the idea that these had a smear-protection quality to them.  Along with the fact that they would not bleed through paper.. Even paper as thin as Bible pages.  Everyone who owns a Bible or has seen one.  Has known the feel of the rice style paper of the Bible Pages.  The thin See through quality.  A lot of other highlighters easily bleed through pages especially these delicate Bible pages.  So I decided that my Bible was going to be my tester.  I like to highlight passages in the Bible that help me on a daily basis.  Here is a page of my Bible in the book of Proverbs where I used the yellow gel highlighters to highlight to passages.  I like that it went on smoothly, did not bleed or smear.  I also like a quality that isn't mentioned in their description.  I like that it isn't overbearing.  Some highlighters are very much a POP off the page and burn your retina colors.  Which sometimes makes it hard to read a page that some of the highlighter was applied to but these are a soft yellow.  Just enough to stand out but not distracting when I am looking at other passages on the same page.  I honestly think that is my favorite quality about these.

Now I need to find more of these in multiple colors so I can keep highlighting up a storm.  These will be great when I go back to school.  As I said before I actually shied away from  highlighting in my text books because of the overbearing colors but now I think I will have a great tool for my classes.

Winter is coming up fast and already I have had a horrible cough/ sore throat.  I hope that is not a foreshadow of how this cold and flu season is going to go.  Luckily I was able to test out Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops during my recent illness. 

First a little Back story on the company and product (this was on their product description)......

Ulysses S. Grant was President, the population of America hovered at 39 million, and the telephone was still a pipe dream, when in 1870 J. Herman Pine hung out a confectionery shingle on 8th Street above Walnut in Philadelphia and, along with his brother, sold their first batch of what they called 'Pine Brothers Glycerine Tablets.' In an attempt to relieve his own sore throat and those of his family members, Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could sooth and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat. Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were born. Our Thoughts~   These Throat Drops are interesting.. It is really hard to explain.. The softish they are talking about is more of a thick gummy.  So they are sorta like a gummy bear only harder in consistency.  Which makes them pretty interesting to say the least.  I am really horrible at letting my throat drops actually melt the whole way I end up playing with them between my back teeth and crunching down pretty much making their soothing effect voided, due to swallowing small pieces of drop instead of letting the medicine trickle down my throat.  However, Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops really don't allow me to bite down like I usually do.  Which is great.  Because they are Softish they are harder to bite through and I realize I am doing it and stop trying and in turn allows the medicinal trickle effect that is supposed to happen with throat drops.  

I got to try two flavors out of the three.  The cherry and honey.  Both were not over whelming and easy on the palate.  I did feel that my scratch throat was soothed but I did need to keep up with using them consistently. If I forgot to renew it my sore throat would come back.

All in all they worked great and were easy to carry in these little containers (see photo below).  You can find them a CVS and other retailers just check their web site.  Link is above.

Our Thoughts~  My eldest son loves books.  And I love that with this app he can listen to it or he can read the pages himself.  On each page there are questions for him to review what he read.  Between the text pages is an interactive page where you can touch around and the picture moves or even talks.  I think his favorite is the little bug saying goodbye on one of them.  

This is a great app to have on hand while we are at appointments.  It keeps my eldest busy listening to the story and playing with the interactive pages.  His favorite part of this app is the bonus game where he helps Jeanso Pack his Backpack.  The backpack shows a picture of the item to look for then you find it in the messy room.  For $2.99 definitely a great Game to have on hand.
