Yantra Mat Review

Yantra Mat

I was overly excited when I was told I could try the Yantra Mat. I started checking out all the health benefits of the Yantra Mat: Helps with Migraines, Muscle tension, Stress, sleeping poorly and more. When I was pregnant with our youngest son Adam, I developed Migraines and ended up still being very sensitive to getting them ever since. So with the statement of helping migraines I was sold.

I will have to admit when pulling the Yantra Mat out of its purple carrying case and opening to reveal all the discs I was pretty scared. Running through my head were questions. How would a bed of nails feel? Will it be really painful and you have to just get through it? It can't be too painful, right? People have been using accupressure for over 4000 years they wouldn't keep doing it if it didn't work, right?

After unrolling the mat and briefly being a chicken to pain I slowly laid down on the mat. The first day I tried to stay on the suggested time of 10 min. It felt like what I would think laying on a bunch of plastic forks standing up (aka a bed of nails). Because your weight is distributed evenly it really doesn't stab into you. After laying down you get the sense of warmth, this is due to increased blood flow to the area. Which makes sense why this relieves muscle tension. I did notice my migraine lifting as I laid on the mat and a sense of calm and relaxation.

Day 2 again they suggest 10min for days 1-5 but on Day 2 I fell asleep so I slept about 45 min on my Yantra mat. Since Day 2 I have used my mat for longer stretches and find that I am a happier and calmer mommy through the day. I use my mat before bed to help with sleep and around noon (aka naptime) to relax from the busy morning.

Hard to see but day 2 after I fell asleep on the mat.. if you look closely you can see the yantra mat design.

So my thoughts are though you may be a little scared from the sight of the Yantra Mat it is well worth the try and every bit worth the pennies. And I will continue to use my mat daily, if not twice daily.

On the flip side of the mat is an Indian Meditation Symbol the "Yantra" which means "form" "free". When you are not laying on your mat you can either hang it or lean it against the wall and meditate on the symbol. While meditating on the symbol you will notice your breathing slow and deepen. Which will allow you to again focus and relax even if you don't have time to lay down.
