From the Manufacture~ The Time Out Pad is a pressure sensitive pad with a built in timer that helps parents monitor time outs. This simply works by adjusting the timer for one to five minutes and by pressing the start button. Its countdown will start when the child sits on the Time Out Pad and if the child stands up before the countdown has ended, an alarm sounds until they sit back down. This features red, yellow, and green lights that provide a visual countdown signaling the last 30 seconds of the time out. The Time Out Pad comes with a positive parenting guide including 5 steps to successful time outs. It requires two AA batteries which are not included.
My thoughts. I originally purchased this product because I have 3 children ages 4 and under. One of who is a nurser. I have found that my kids know the exact time that I can't watch and make sure they are staying put in their time out spot. Examples being nursing, cooking dinner, changing diapers, switching over the laundry, you know all the everyday activities that we parents do while watching our precious ones. I found this product and bought 2 actually for those often times that both of the older children are getting in trouble together.
It is really simple to use and even comes with a 5 step guide to successful time outs. You give your warning. Explain that if they do it again they will go to time out. If they do it again you grab your time out pad and set the dial to the desired minutes (1 minute per year of age of the child) push the start button and place the child on the pressure sensor. There is a wonderful little Red, Yellow, Green light for the children to watch their progress and an alarm for when your child gets up which is a wonderful feature so that you don't have to be in the same room you can just listen to make sure they don't get up. If they do you are alerted and the timer stops until they are seated back on the pressure sensor.
Con~To set the dial for the timer you need to use a coin to change the numbers which is a little bit of a pain when you are switching between a 2 year old and a 4 year old but it was made this way to keep little fingers from messing with timer.

How big is it Katrina? I've actually been wanting to look for something for Konnor with timeouts to keep him staying put, especially with new baby and plenty of distractions coming. The picture looks kind of small for their bums.
ReplyDeleteRikki the pad part they sit on is 10.5inches by 8.5 inches then the plastic part with the electronics is 2.5inches by 8.5 inches.. Both Isaac and Noah fit on it just fine..
ReplyDeleteYeah that would be big enough. You said you got yours off Amazon?
ReplyDeleteRikki just click on the highlighted time out pad in the blue in the last line of the blog post.. :D It will take you there.
ReplyDeleteI love my time out pad. I bought mine off mamabargains.com and it has been a lifesaver when coming to timeouts. I was never consistent either with my middle child and so this helped greatly to monitor him and be more disciplined.
ReplyDeleteI ordered it! Thanks!
