Swaddlekinz~ ends 12/5

Let's talk more about Swaddling.  As I have said Swaddling is great for babies because it helps with a sense of security (feels like the tight space of the womb) , helps with the jerk relflex (keeps them bundled so they don't wake themselves) and warmth (helps regulate their body temp since they are still learning how).  And lets just state for purposes that I dislike normal 30x30 receiving blankets.  You can get them at almost any store and you usually get a ton for a baby shower but you can only use them for a little bit as a swaddle blanket then it is just a big piece of cloth.  Honestly mine never really leave the drawer aside from times I want a big burp cloth.  Yes I use the typical 30x30 receiving blankets as burp cloths in my opinion they are really not useful for anything else.

If you are planning on going to a baby shower or on the hunt for Swaddling blankets or a perfect gift go with a LARGE blanket style 44x44 and up!  A great example of this would be Swaddlekinz.  Their LARGE (47x47) 100% muslin swaddler blankets are great.  They are lightweight so you can easily swaddle your baby or use it as a nursing cover.  This blanket is big enough for me to completely cover myself and my 5 month old while nursing and not SWEAT to death.  I know you were thinking but what about the SWEAT... Really if you have ever tried nursing a baby under a blanket you know that SWEAT is the main concern. It gets way hot under there especially in the summer.  You get done nursing and pull baby out for a burp and he or she is just glistening.  With the Swaddlekinz lightweight design and breathable material it doesn't get hot under there.  Other benefits of the large design is that it wraps around me and I can lean on part of the blanket to prevent my son from playing peek a boo with the world while nursing.  A friend of mine also loves these styles because her daughter gets distracted easy and this light weight blanket help put the "blinders" (sort a speak) on her daughter and gets her to focus on eating.

When not nursing the large design makes a great clean surface to put baby down for tummy time or even as a lightweight cover over you baby carrier or car seat to protect baby from the sun or wind.  All around these blankets are great and are on my list of hand outs at Baby Showers.  So if you are looking for must haves for new moms check out these blankets and get the new mom you know a blanket they will use for a long long time not just a short time like the typical 30x30 blankets.

My kids all like these super soft swaddle blankets I see my older children trying to walk away with the babies blanket all the time.  May be time to get them all their own. lol
