Need a Stocking stuff idea. Check out
Zen Magnets-
Zen Magnets are small but curiously strong rare earth super-magnets, 5mm in diameter. How powerful? 8 Times more powerful than the ceramic magnets driving your speakers. 30 Times more powerful than the average fridge magnet. Pull them into a chain, fold them into a fabric, and meld them into limitless shapes: both abstract and geometric, flat or 3D. Use them when you need to massage your mind, practice your patience, relieve some boredom or alleviate some stress.
Our Thoughts~ (This product was actually reviewed by my husband he got a hold of these and just wouldn't stop playing with them so I am having his thoughts for this review)
My Thoughts~ What a great stocking stuffer for you big kid. lol .. My husband played for hours with these and even took them to work for something to keep his fingers busy while he was thinking of projects. Definitely a great great gift idea.

Nick's Thoughts~
Part of the interest I had in wanting to play with these is that they offer such a wild array of things that you can possibly do with them. There are tricks that you can find from their website and gallery (http://zenmagnets.com/index.php?p=1_4_Gallery ), but I just found it entertaining enough to just see what I could do on my own. They are surprisingly immersive.
In my day job, I work as a software developer trying to solve complex problems with code. I've read that taking walks, playing with desk toys, doodling, and general daydreaming actually help focus your brain on solving these problems more efficiently than trying to force yourself to come up with a solution. See this study for a reference (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/05/090511180702.htm ). I keep these near my desk as an excuse to be 'thinking about the problem'. I have found that I've stumbled upon "A Ha!" moments when playing with them, so not only are these fun to play with, but I think I'm actually a better thinker because of them. Imagine that!
These are really fun, though, so whether you want to excuse yourself for being more intelligent with or without them, you'll still have fun and find yourself immersed in them much like you were when you saw a lava lamp for the first time. Mesmerizing...

I think these would help both of my sons. One is slightly ADD and would benefit from taking a "study time-out" with these. The other is a computer addict that would find these an alternative to the need to play on the computer when he should be studying!

I wonder if it could be that simple. I few magnets that are able to make you focus and carry your stress away? It would be great if that is what it does do, I can see how it would get your mind off things for a while.
ReplyDeleteI think this would be something that the whole family would be able to have and use. If I give it to one child or myself then I think I would end up defeating the purpose of Zen with the fighting over them

These look like fun! I'd love to give them to my husband since he's a big kid, but honestly, my oldest daughter and I would probably steal them from him all the time.
